Please check the list below to ensure that you have the proper information with you before coming to the Depot. Note that we charge families $10 per snowsuit (cash only). Please be sure to bring your own bags as we are unable to supply bags.
If you have any questions regarding eligibility or documentation required, please call (613) 746-8719.
What Documents Do I Need in order to Receive a Snowsuit?
- If you are on Ontario Works, ODSP, or Aide Social, you will need your current or past month’s drug card or a photocopy of it. If you have given your drug card to the pharmacy, please request a photocopy of it from the pharmacy.
- If you are low income, you will need to bring either your Child Tax Benefit or GST notice from the base year 2010. This notice will show the 2010 family net income, your marital status, and it will list your children by their first name and show their month and year of birth. This notice is mailed to you in July if you have filed your income tax prior to April 30, 2011. To determine if you are eligible, please see the low income cut- offs.
- If you have recently immigrated to Canada, you will need to provide your date of arrival and proof of financial status. Eligibility is determined by the low income cut-offs shown below.
- If you are a refugee, you will need documentation indicating your refugee status.
- All clients need to provide a piece of identification that has their child’s date of birth on it. Birthdates are required for all qualifying children. We serve newborn to age 15.
- Anything that shows your current address in Ottawa or Gatineau. We only provide new snowsuits to the residents of Ottawa and Gatineau. However, our donated suits are available for anyone outside of these locales.
- To determine if you are considered “low income”, please refer to the Low Income Cut-Offs (LICOs) as laid out by Statistics Canada
